Alabama Field Trip

by Gregory Manley (February 15, 2014)

We all had a blast at this field trip. It was very easy to find what you wanted to collect.

At the site we found paint pots, conglomerate, fossils, smoother jasper and agate pebbles, and coal.

When we got out of our truck we were finding rocks all over. Then we started finding some really neat conglomerate. After a while of walking though the woods we started finding paint pots. We didn’t even scratch the surface of all the property. We could have been there for over five weeks and still find interesting rocks. The smoothed jasper and agate pieces were ready to be mounted.

The site was great! We all hope to go back again soon. This trip is great for kids. We are hoping for another invite. (Greg Manley is the son of  Wes and Melanie Manley and an active Junior Rockhound and Cabber)

These reports will chronicle the details of the fun and adventure of seeking and finding your own rocks, minerals or fossils. Frequently, these trips are repeated. This makes this page a good reference site for future trips. Collecting location specifics won't be included in the report as they generally require special permission to collect. It's important that we protect the privacy of our site owners to avoid unwanted rockhounds searching on their property.
