Shark Teeth
by Ginger Lessard (March, 2022)
The Junior Rock Hounds met on Saturday March 5, 2022. Our program was on Shark Teeth we had 14 kids plus a parent. We learned 20 facts about shark teeth. Such as shark teeth are arranged in rows with the average number being 15 rows. Most sharks have 5 rows , but the bull shark has 50 rows. The whale shark has 3,000 little teeth that they don’t use, because they’re filter feeders that find food by sifting through their gills. I had some extra teeth an skate plates and other treasures that they we able to identify using the Shark Teeth Identification Chart they had.
They also learned that Venice Beach in Florida is a hot spot for finding sharks teeth. We then wire wrapped a very nice shark tooth and then put it on a necklace.
