Annual Gem & Mineral Show

Fun! Education! Really Cool Stuff!

This is the CCGMS annual event bringing together the public with educators from our club and professional dealers from all over the Southeast. We hold this event annually in November, the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. Admission is free!! It’s three days of fun and education for the whole family.

You will find amazing rocks, gemstones, minerals, and fossils from all over the world from over 30 professional dealers! Choose from a large selection of beautiful beads, jewelry and jewelry making supplies. Come and see many fascinating displays by CCGMS club members as well as demonstrations of gem and mineral polishing, faceting,  and free mineral identification classes.

One of the most popular events at the show is Geode Cracking.  Here, kids and adults select from bins of geodes of different sizes and from two locations in Mexico.  Then the fun begins. We use geode cracking tools to break them in half.  The wonders that are found inside are amazing. And, we guarantee that your geode will be hollow!

In addition, we offer inexpensive grab bags for the kids.  These are filled with interesting rocks and minerals and even some fossils from all over the world.

Throughout the show, once per hour, we will be drawing for door prizes.  These are first class items that have been donated by our dealers.

There is no charge for admission.  Just come on in!!

The pictures below are from previous shows to give you an idea of what it is like.

THANK YOU FOR THE 2024 SHOW from the SHOW CHAIR – Jim Haege

Our 39th Annual Gem Show was a great success! All the dealers said they enjoyed the dealer dinner and everything considered, they had a really great show. We could not have had such a great result without you. I think the club did itself proud!

I would like to thank all of our club members who volunteered their time to help us put on another great show! There was a lot of work that everyone helped with – from the delicious food at our dealer dinner to all the club members who helped during setup and teardown. Dealers were thankful for the members who were floor walkers, offering them water or a break if they needed it. I received many, many compliments on how well our dealers were treated by our club.

What you may not realize is – this show was a huge team effort that began almost at the beginning of the year. From getting post cards out there to help advertise our show, to sewing and stuffing grab bags,  advertising it in person and on facebook, etc., there are just so many things had to be done well in advance of the show. Y’all did a great job, and it was noticed by our customers as well.

So thank you, thank you all so much! We could not have done it without you!

Jim Haege
